Television actress Asha Negi believes in eating everything, but in small portions and burning it off well through proper exercise

Simple things, small

steps and everyday changes are all it takes to lead a healthy life.

Television actress Asha Negi believes in the power of basics when it comes to fitness. Lately, having won the dance reality show Nach Baliye 6 along with her partner Rithvik Dhanjani, she also played the role of Purvi in Pavitra Rishta. Here she shares what keeps her going once the cameras shut down.

My fitness routine

My fitness routine mainly comprises eating healthy and wholesome food, and working out consistently at the gym. I like to keep things basic and simple.

Can’t do without gym

Yes I am completely a gym person! I really enjoy functional training. Burpees and the mountain climbing exercise are my favourite workout forms. I also do a bit of cardio and weight-training as well or sometimes a mix of both to balance out my exercise routine. But nothing beats functional training!

The day begins with

I always drink a glass of lukewarm water first thing in the morning, and nowadays a glass of coconut water as well before breakfast.

A Bournvita girl

My breakfast is usually a heavy meal; a moong dal sandwich or sometimes cereal with milk or an egg white omelette. Lunch is mainly brown rice with dal and a green vegetable. If I feel hungry in the evenings, I have a glass of milk with Bournvita or again a bowl of cereal with milk. Dinner is usually a dal tikki with minimal oil or a chicken or paneer-based vegetable salad.

Creature of the night

I like sleeping through the day and staying awake through the night, but now I am going to try and sleep through the night and wake up early morning to get a fresh start to my day.

Sugar cravings

I have a big sweet tooth for chocolates. And besan ka ladoo!

Listen up, youngsters

My advice would be to eat everything you like, but in small portions of course and burn it off well by working out consistently. Moderation is the golden rule to life-long fitness. Gymming is a good form of workout, but outdoor activities are a great way of keeping fit as well.

Also, make sure you eat small meals every 2-3 hours and don’t keep any long gaps between meals. These few things will definitely help anyone lead a healthy lifestyle.
