Reality television's latest TRP-tripping gimmick these days is to get telly couples participating in a show to confess their 'real' feelings for each other in front of a studio audience, co-participants, parents wishing them either in person or via facetime and judges who extend their heartfelt support to the newly attached. Here are some mushy reality show proposals that left audiences surprised and even teary-eyed... l Upen Patel-Karishma Tanna The chemistry between Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna's, which became one of the highlights of 'Bigg Boss Season 8', went a notch higher when Upen decided to propose to Karishma on 'Nach Baliye 7' recently. And it was a mushy proposal complete with Upen going down on his knees) putting an end to rumours that the two had 'staged' their love for the show! The meticulously planned screen proposal's some drama on the show.
2 Gurmeet Chaudhary- Debina Bonnerjee Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Bonnerjee, Tellytown's much in love couple who shot to fame with their stint in 'Ramayana', went on to do a reality show 'Pati, Patni Aur Woh' in 2009. In one of the episodes, Gurmeet announced that he was going to 'get married to Debina', making a tearful Debina embrace him in a bone-crushing hug on camera and the episode resembled a romantic sequence from a Bollywood film! 3 Payal Rohatgi-Sangram Singh Amdavad's Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh's love story started when they took part in the reality show 'Survivor India' in 2011. Eventually the couple went on to become 'good friends' and started spending 'quality' time together even after the cameras stopped rolling. Their sizzling screen PDA on the show raised lots of eyebrows. Later in an interview Sangram confessed that Payal had proposed to him during the show, although the shot wasn't televised. Payal and Sangram are dancing baliyes in 'Nach Baliye 7'. 4. Rahul Mahajan-Dimpy Ganguly Post some controversial and heavy duty on camera PDA in 'Bigg Boss' with Payal Rohatgi, Rahul Mahajan went on to do 'Swayamvar Season 2 — Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'. He even married Kolkata-based model Dimpy Ganguly in a grand and traditional wedding the show. Post that, couple participated in a few more reality shows together, were the most talked about 'reality couple' until the marriage ended amid accusations of domestic violence by Rahul. Sushant Singh Rajput-Ankita Lokhande The much-in-love couple Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande's enduring love-story might have started on the sets of 'Pavitra Rishta', but their biggest screen mushy moment came up when Sushant unexpectedly proposed to her on the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4' in 2011. A tearful Ankita was 'stunned' but later accepted his proposal. Post this, reports of their being secretly married has been doing the rounds. 6. Sara Khan-Ali Merchant The couple's 'love' blossomed on 'Sapna Baabul Ka...Bidaai' and once the show wrapped up, Sara Khan went on to participate in 'Bigg Boss 4' in 2010. After Ali's wild card entry, the show saw some PDA moments between him and Sara, followed by a traditional nikaah attended by their family. Predictably Sara and Ali's 'on camera' marriage ended barely weeks after the show went off air and the two had a messy divorce thereafter! 7. Rithvik Dhanjani-Asha Negi They shot to fame with 'Pavitra Rishta' too, as Arjun and Purvi, were great friends and finally took their friendship to the next level on national TV. After nixing rumours that their romance was just a ruse to participate in 'Nach Baliye 6', Rithvik went on to propose to Asha on his knees with a guitar in his hands and a song on his lips on NB 6 in 2014. It was a picture-perfect moment for the Ashvik fans. The couple who are still going steady even shared their love-story in 'Yeh Hai Aashshiqi.
