Ridhi Dogra: Asha Negi is a tyrant, taskmaster, lazy but I find her completely endearing

The actress talks about her close friends Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Negi, her stint in Khatron Ke Khiladi, Raqesh Vashisth and more

I bumped into Ridhi Dogra at the screening of Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Begi’s Yeh Hai Aashiquiepisode. The actress had come in late as she couldn’t ignore her close friend’s request. Ridhi comes across as this person filled with live wire energy, which can be very contagious. She is very clear about what she wants in life and how to go about achieving it, which I found rather fascinating. Read excerpts from the interview.

Since we are at the special screening of Yeh Hai Aashiqui’s Rithvik-Asha episode; tell us when did you find out about them?

Frankly, it came as a surprise to me when Nach Baliye began. I had no clue until then.

Considering you know Asha from before, did your perception about her change during Khatron Ke Khiladi 6?

I loved Asha during Nach Baliye itself. I used find her cute since then. She was mad, full of energy and very real. After Nach Baliye we went to Dubai for an event, we spent a lot of time together. That’s where I got to know them more closely and they seemed so chilled out and real. That’s when we really connected.

Tell us one thing that people don’t know about Rithvik and Asha.

There are a lot of things like that but how can I say it’s not my thing. I cannot break public perception. Asha will kill me. Okay Asha is a taskmaster, tyrant, very strict when she wants to be and she’s too lazy. She is like a princess. We were in South Africa, and her jacket was with me. She said she wanted it and I told her ok let’s go to the room and get it. She stopped and said no you get it. So that’s the kind of person she is. She may be cute, but she’s lazy, but I find all of it very endearing.

Who do you think was the strongest contender in Khatron Ke Khiladi?

Actually everyone was strong especially this season. I can tell you everyone’s strong points – that’s what made this bunch really great. We’ve had so much fun as we were all there to enjoy and compete with ourselves. There was no competition – that’s why we became such good friends.

What did Raqesh Vashisth say about your performance?

Raqesh loved my performance, he was happy with how far I went. Of course he claims that I could have gone much further but my day was bad. He had a lot of faith in me and was sure I could do anything.

Did you surprise yourself?

Of course, I think I surprised myself before every stunt. I never thought of doing any of those stunts, but slowly as the stunts went by I realized that it’s not that tough. It was scary but a lot of fun.

So what’s next on the plate for you career wise?

I am looking for a project, where people are committed to doing something good. I have never worked in a place where I have to do nothing more than just stand around. It should challenge me.

What is Raqesh up to these days?

Raqesh is in Hyderabad shooting for his Marathi film. He is shooting some high-octane action sequences there. But I cannot reveal much about the film.
